@tidylittle

That’s not a dumb question at all—it’s totally understandable to want clarity. BPD can be complex, and while self-reflection can offer insights, a professional’s perspective helps ensure you get the right support. If you’re feeling uncertain, exploring resources or reading about lived experiences might bring some clarity. You're not alone in wondering about this. 💙

it’s totally not dumb, when i realized it was a lot of denial at first but it was easier for me to recognize since my sister has bpd and i was able to see the similarities. i did a lot of research and spent a lot of time analyzing my own behaviors and especially throughout relationships it’s very evident. but it took almost a year maybe only half a year to come to the conclusion that i do have bpd. if you wanna talk im here and id be happy to help, bpd is different for everyone so don’t stress too much ik i was worried about not perfectly fitting every stereotype

Hi @tidylittle, this is not a dumb question at all! I understand how intimidating approaching a psychiatrist/therapist can be to discuss a new diagnosis, so asking about the signs and symptoms isn’t dumb!🫶🏻

BPD, as both someone diagnosed and a senior psychology major, is a complex disorder that manifests as a vast myriad of symptoms. However, these symptoms toons often overlap with a variety of other disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder (to name a few) so the best way to get a real diagnosis is to take that first step towards seeing a psychiatrist to get a definitive answer.

I know it’s scary and I know how deeply BPD affects every aspect of your life, believe me I know, but I can also assure you that seeing a psychiatrist/therapist will change your life for the better.

Sending all the care your way❤️
