No, It's Not You...

Watching an "influencer" who is 'all about leveling up and elegance' I suddenly got the most ick when I heard her slamming people with personality disorders.

Anyone who's done their research knows these are treatable illnesses, misrepresented to high heaven in the media and misunderstood and stigmatized by laypeople and professionals alike.

After reporting the daylights out of her and deleting the comment I needed to write first before posting a more...elegant and up leveled one...(Never descend to their level!) I also included a brief, five minute video with the correct information pertaining directly to some of the top most misunderstood personality disorders.

I'll post the video here as well. And I'll just say this...nobody chooses a personality disorder, they are treatable and the person is still a human. Why does this need to said.

I don't care what someone's seen in the movies, heard or googled, how much they associate bad people with a certain disorder, it's not the standard and it's not the norm.

Not by a long shot. A person isn't their illness.

Here's the helpful video I was talking about:

I'm here if anyone struggling needs a friend. 👋

I also want to say the way it's treated and talked about is still highly ineffective, enabling of misinformation and stigma and even downright ignorant, dangerous and brutal.

The education system churns out mostly status quo sheeple who couldn't form an original thought, which just inflames those who watch too much sensationalized trash tv for example.

There's also obviously authoritarianism to worry about where people forget their an independent being able to stand up to misuse of power, no matter how lofty it seems.

It gives me a triple exponential ick to see how some of the information being disseminated out there by professionals and influencers, doctors and therapists. Please, think critically!

Professionals, celebrities, reporters, influences... they're are just people, prone to error, opinion and judgement...they're not the final say, no matter what. Change reigns.

AIDS was caused by sex, the world was flat.  Rape was legal. Suicide a criminal act. There was a timeline to charge someone for sexual assault. Victims were blamed. It was their fault.

Hang on. Just keep going. People are catching up. It can still be brutal out there, but it's improving exponentially. Aftershocks come with an earthquake. Then they go. Then they go. Go.
