My sister keeps saying I am a sociopath because of my manipulative personality and stuff like that but I don’t think it’s true i belive it’s a teen problem not a disorder do you think she is right?

@Mikels yep! Seek a doctors advice, before your sister diagnosis you. Cause otherwise your sister saying theese things can have a bad affect on your self esteem and mental health. It could well just be a teen thing, but best to find out of you think you have a mental illness. Goodluck sweetie ❤ we are all here for you ❤gives you a giant tiny hug ❤

@Mikels

Don’t take it to heart. Most people are manipulative since childhood. We would cry to get what we want or throw tantrums. I don’t think your sister has a degree in psychology or is a doctor. You could try to get diagnosed if you feel like it. But don’t feel pressured about it. I’ve been diagnosed by my siblings to have every known illness in the world 😅. Just try to ignore your sister yeah! All the best! 💕

@Mikels hey, doctor here. You know what they say "If you're worried about being a sociopath, you're not." But on a serious note, you can't tell just by being manipulative. Manipulation can be seen in almost anything from normal people to depression to bpd to narcissism to whatever. Heck, I'm manipulative at times even though i avoid it, and I'm not a sociopath. Sociopathy falls under the diagnosis of Anti-Social Personality Disorder. It's a bit tricky to diagnose in the sense that, you have to have been destructive and manipulate and all that before the age of 15. Then goes on from there.

If you don't wanna be manipulative and yet you are, I'd want to delve further into why you might be using it as a coping mechanism for example, instead of as a weapon. If you're really worried about it, check with a mental health professional but I wouldn't be too worried about siblings diagnoses haha. Take care!

@LawlietHolmes oh and teens can be notoriously manipulative just for the sake of being teens who wanna get what they want, explore the world, defy social norms and this feeling of being invincible in a way. That'd be pretty normal.
