went to new shrink for the first time - after 55 min of yapping - got diagnosed with OCPD + ADHD - strong markers and psychometrics still pending. + a flavour of giftedness added (cursed)

idk wtf to feel honestly

It can take some time to get your head around things.

It can be alot of new information to take on board.

Be gentle with yourself, as you navigate through this 💚😊

Hi, I hope the diagnoses feed into something that's tailored to helping you. 💜 Did the therapist share what they see as the next steps or follow-up after the diagnoses? ("Cursed" made me chuckle.)

lol idk- i mentioned it to my two friends who’re both hilariously enough (coincidence) - clinical psychologists/counsellors- who’s first reaction was like called the adhd! and ocpd huh- damn…that actually makes a lot of sense went onto discuss traits i display with each other* and i was like ? guys- hello?

anyways - yeah the next step would be psychometric assessments + prescriptions for trial meds + future scheduling for therapy etc.

That's funny imagining two clinicians having a passionate discussion about how to diagnose you, while you're sitting right there in front of them. 😅 I guess it's a bit like being a zoo animal on display.

I'm glad there's some kind of action plan afterwards and it isn't just "congrats, you have this--good luck". 💜 In a perfect world, that's the goal of diagnoses, to help people feel understood and give them the right kind of support for what they're experiencing.
