Personality Disorders Community Check-in: June 1st - June 4th

June 1st, 2020

Dear lovely PD Support Community,

June, by James W. Johnson

Which emotions and feelings do you start this new month in?

Is there anything you are looking forward to doing this week?

Part of setting boundaries is learning about yourself. You have to have a self before you can create a boundary around the self [Karla McLaren]. What do you think of this quote?

I would love to hear from you, but there is no pressure to answer these questions. You are very welcome to simply say hi or share whatever else is on your mind. Or just grab a hug. We are happy to have you here no matter what, this is a safe space for all of you.

Much love,

Valeria

Which emotions and feelings do you start this new month in?

Started the month with awful feelings. Hurt, hate, bitter, aimless, grief, sadness, pain. Lots of pain.

Is there anything you are looking forward to doing this week?

Honestly, no. Feel like I want to sleep for a long time.

Part of setting boundaries is learning about yourself. You have to have a self before you can create a boundary around the self [Karla McLaren]. What do you think of this quote?

I think quote is accurate. I don't feel like I have a self. Maybe that's why I usually feel grief as my primary emotion.

Hi there @Aqua79, thank you for joining this check-in and sharing with us your feelings. I'm really sorry to hear that June has started with all those difficult emotions... it makes sense that you wish to sleep... do you feel those emotions and feelings subside when you sleep them over? (not sure this works in English, I hope you can understand what I mean).

I also get very well the sense of not having a self and grieving for this... Do you think it may help to try and focus on your values, for instance, as a base to start getting a grasp of your hidden self? There is a video I often re-watch and that helps me a bit when I experience this unstable sense of identity more intensively... Here's the link, maybe you'll find it helpful as well.

I'm sending you a safe hug from France, if that's ok

Hi there @purpleTree4652, thank you for checking in with us!

I'm really sorry that my question sounds a bit confusing and unclear, basically I was just asking how you are feeling :)

How did the session with your therapist go? It makes sense to me that you were looking forward to it... therapy is an act of self-care and healing...

I'm happy you like the quote and I hope you're looking after yourself. I wish you a nice weekend!

Signing up for classes at community college and also, working at a cool new place

Maybe creating boundaries can help establish a sense of self or self worth? Idk. It's interesting

Hi there, thank you for joining our check-in! It's nice to read from you again!

You mention being excited, which is great! but also slightly disappointed at yourself: do you know what is causing this feeling? I hope you're also able to feel some compassion...

Signing up for classes and working at a new place: I suppose this may be what is making you excited :)

I'm glad you find the quote interesting, and I agree with you, if we create boundaries and stick to them, our sense of self-worth can increase heart

Have a nice rest of the week!

@sunflower2480

Thanks for the nice comment. Well, I have dropped out of university (I hated my major and I didn't really try as hard in school as I should have) and I have told my parents (they are disappointed but my mom is more mad at me than my dad). I didn't realized there were other ways to solving my problem other than just dropping out.

@isucklol

I understand why you would be disappointed at yourself... however, I wonder if you also feel some pride? You were doing something you didn't like at all, something that doesn't feel true to how you are... and you found the courage to stop it. Can you see something positive in this?

You say you can now see different ways you could have handled your past situation. Again, it looks like you're gaining insight and growing... Is there perhaps a way to act with the current information you have?

Sending you a safe hug if that's ok

@sunflower2480

Yeah, been thinking of transferring to another school that's cheaper and easier (switching to a semester system from a quarter system).

Sure, kinda need the hugs atm
