Just because

I used to think that life was tragic.

Often, I'd say, "*** it!" I’m done.

But then, when everything's undone,

I softly whisper to myself...

Peace would be pretty neat.

The world really is absurd,

and somehow that’s kind of funny --

living in the constant push and pull,

of what we so redundantly call life.

I said I wanted nothing,

though I still hoped for something.

Nevertheless,

I don't linger behind the door anymore.

I go outside,

feel the stupid sun on my skin,

taste the salty air, roll my eyes,

and still I stay.

Not for big reasons.

Not for meaning.

Just because.
