Visions of Waking, Whispers of the Absent

In moments of thoughtlessness, or sudden gaze astray,

The face that was my grace, steals the light of day.

As if the image of my grandparents sighs,

Awakening the deep longing that within me lies.

Suddenly! It comes without a single plea,

Restoring to my soul all its sympathy.

The heart cries out: "If only the echo would return"

"Or a sweet dream-visit, a lesson I could learn!

I yearn for the voice that brings the spirit rest,

For the warmth of an embrace that settles every test.

For those genuine, noble, whispered prayers,

Which once shielded my heavy heart from cares.

Where is your smile that used to be my light?

Transforming my deep, dark night into something bright.

Its memory now feels harder than the impossible task,

Re-igniting the struggle behind the fading mask.

But the mind soothes, and the memory calls out,

That this profound yearning is an inheritance of devout

Love. Be calm, my heart, for love has not yet died

As long as longing lives, no loss can be implied

That purity, that truthfulness in all their care,

Has now transformed into an anchor I can bear.

They are not merely images that pass and fade away,

But the essence of the meaning, the secret of my day.

I will make of this sharp longing a driving force,

To carry the love that cannot run its course.

You are the peace, the haven, the deeply felt affection,

And in every moment of remembrance, a calm reflection.

So peace be upon you, wherever you dwell this hour,

By you the mind is stilled, the soul finds its full power.
