allergic to lunch

i'm excited for lunch
untill I realize
that I have to go to the cafeteria
the worst place in the world
"maybe tomorrow"
I tell my friends, after I lie and say
"i've still got some work to do"
work that I finished weeks ago
while sitting by myself in a teachers room
like I have for a month
i'm too scared to go
too scared of the noise
the people
the threats hiding in dark corners
that only I can see
and I wish I could go
but i'm allergic to lunch
