Instead
Instead, can I have a sister?
Where they argue and fight
Where the opinions were neither
Wrong or right
But no, you’re always good
Innocent, the victim
You didn’t spill blood
Like if a dog barks “i never bit them”
When the girl is crying
And her finger is red
But the parents are buying
All the dog said
Instead, can I have a mom?
Where they listen
And can be wrong
And theyre never too busy
To talk and help
Where its mom not mother
And it understand not yell
And i’m never a bother
Will i ever be good
And not doing something wrong?
When im the girl “i should”
When i never crack in my song
Instead, can I have a friend?
Where I never doubt
And the thought never bends
And they’re never on a mount
Above me
Better than I
But they’re always better, see?
‘Cause they have things that aren’t mine
Instead, can I have a life?
@helperAve
Your poem speaks to me of being left out.
Not having your own possessions.
Being overlooked.
A tone of wanting.
Unsettlement.
Sadness.
