Recommendations?
I have recently found an interest in poetry and was looking for some recommendations. If anyone has any for me feel free to reply. I am into the classical poets and also anything contemporary. One of the first modern poets I came across was Trev Cimenski, he has a couple ebooks for sale and he is also on social media as 'of_a_hound'. For classical choices I like most British and Persian poets.
@aCalmOasis Allow me to recommend Elizabeth Bishop. She writes as if she were talking to you. So that takes care of the alienation one feels when a poem is built like a shrine to rhyme.
Then there's the subtly volatile Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson (the one who can find a poem in something as ordinary as a letter). You might also like the works of Auden, E E Cummings, and Ellen Bass.

Plath and Dickinson are such staples, I read the bell jar ages back and was reminded that she had authored that book. The fact that it is semi-autobiographical too just added an extra layer that really allowed you to peer inside the mind of Plath. Last week I saw a beautiful leather bound collection of Dickinson's poetry that I will probably pick up if its still there. I have read the most known poem by Auden the 'Funeral Blues' which is utterly fantastic and equally heart wrenching. I will delve into some E.E Cummings as per your recommendation. Quickly looking at wiki I see that he was quite a linguist and used language in poetry in inventive ways. I will reply back with my favorite of his that I read. Thanks so much! :)

(Auden caught my fancy with his The Unknown Citizen. That has oh so many shades of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and other such dystopian tales.)
