Shoulders

Along the wayward path,

And by the seafoam shores

I turned my eyes too look and see,

One set of footprints behind me

With a shattered sob and bleat,

I softly cried to thee

"Where did you go oh lord,

how could you have left me"

While softer than the raging sea

And stronger than the ocean breeze

A voice then spoke to me

"Stop looking in the past,

Dear child,

start looking right at me"

Down my eyes did drift

Softly i did see

On shoulders there I rest,

Not the scorching beach

My voice a sobbing mess

Worse than the bleating sheep

"Lord if this is how your shoulders feel,

Please never let me leave!"
