The Dagger Of Anonymity
many a times i've seen
the mind wants to break all bounds,
one stranger longs for another to know
one stood a friend through ages
and stays, forever, a companion—
for every good and bad,
why is one glad, secretly, for the other's joy
why one cries to be its part, but couldn't
why one sees the others, unsees the bounds
but why the bounds to oneself one can never break
well, i can't solve this riddle
but for any answer i find
the dagger of my anonymity will still hurt.
how could one explain the riddle
one doesn't know, but it's well to forget
or else the bounds will break
the dagger will stop hurting
and the other will lose some joy again
Hello @DreamerFromDreamland77, your poem has such a quiet ache to it — a thoughtful tension between longing and restraint, connection and invisibility. What stands out to me is how the speaker isn’t just wrestling with unspoken emotion but also with anonymity as both shield and wound. The metaphor of the “dagger of my anonymity” is striking — so gentle yet devastating. I think many of us can relate to that feeling. It’s a riddle of presence without exposure and you’ve captured that paradox beautifully.
@azurePond Thank you so much for reading and what a beautiful reflection!
