The Worst Poem Ever
I wanted to fix you with verses,
tie your pain in clever bows,
tuck your sorrow in a rhyme
where no one ever knows.
I thought a line or two might do it,
like magic in disguise,
but healing isn't something
you find between the lines.
I don't know where it started,
or what it truly cost,
But I can’t be the compass
for all that you have lost.
I can offer metaphors
they sound nice when you're numb
but no poem pulls the poison
from the place it's leaking from.
You're the only one who can,
as unfair as that sounds.
Growth is yours to stumble through
when no one else is around.
I'm nothing but a poem,
you're the only one who can save you.
But I'll be a shoulder to cry on,
whenever you're feeling blue.
I’ll be here with broken rhythm,
And rhyme that limps along
not to lift you out completely,
just to sit with you that long.
This isn't the worst poem ever! It's a great poem about boundaries <3
