Vigil

A fiery gaze blazes down

A hill of clashing bodies

A war of ideals waging

A passion not bound to it burning

Blood and bonds

Fire and fears

Swords and silence

The figure watches with pain

Cloaked, armored, shielded,

not an arrow could scratch him

Yet still the fire behind his helm brightens

A sorrow burning under combat he can't control

A soft whisper is released from under the cloak

A command, from higher, on to embrace this war

A stronger cost in the moment, a quicker victory

He knows where he is headed,

A place that reflects his eyes

One with no breaks, no relief under the toil

Yet if he can bring a victory for his people,

A smile to the men & women who make survive

A place for love to bloom, a freedom

He knows it is worth this ache and pain

Brighter his gaze blazes down, aching for the loss

Sorrow for all those who clash on the hill

His vigil the spear in this war of waging ideals

Passion unbound by fight but to the men, burning

@7Bear7

This spoke to me of modern times.

A tone of resignation.

And relevance.

Of the fear and destructility of war.

Of the futility.

Who ever wins?

It's classic tones.

It's historical feel.

I enjoyed it 💚😊
