Why did you make this river run

Why did you make this river run,

There were no rivers yesterday,

But there were 7 thousand estimates,

Of men who claimed of righteousness,

Men who made the rivers run,

Their fires could rival the burning sun,

Tell me why did you make this river run,

Why does it flow relentlessly,

Flows and flows so helplessly,

Why did you make this river run,

You dogs, you cowards, behind the guns,

Why did you make this river run,

Violence, chaos, kill, and stun,

All for justice, religion, fun?

Why did you make this river run,

The people have lost and the crows have won,

They follow where the river runs,

And feast at what the men had done,

Why did you make this river run,

The source of the river was my teacher,

My doctor, my friend, my brother,

Perhaps you could've known each other,

Instead you made the rivers run,

Driven by money, you made a bank,

The rivers flow beneath your tanks,

Why did you make this river run,

You took away their sanctuary,

And made a river estuary,

Why did you make this river run,

Their legacy rests within the bed,

Of the river running, staining red

@diligentShade426

Wow.

Your words are questioning.

Slipping between anger and indignation.

The unrealistic expectations of war.

The people giving the orders tucked up safely, while the people who just live their lives suffer.

No end in sight.

Just misery.

And questions.

You weave a web of curiosity and an age old question of what's the point of any of it when it only ends in death .

Thank you for sharing 💜 😊
