I just came across this quite credited to Saint Augustine. Tho in my minimal searching couldn't find anything to support he said or wrote it. (if someone else is aware of who or has evidence that would be appreciated.)

“He/she is a Christian…

  1. Who is merciful to all.

  2. Who does not become angry for an injury.

  3. Who gives aid to the poor.

  4. Who suffers with the afflicted.

  5. Who participates in the sorrows of others as though they were his own.

  6. Who does not shut his door on the unhappy.

  7. Who does not insult anyone.

  8. Who serves God day and night.

  9. Who continuously meditates on God's ways.

  10. Who is poor in the eyes of the world but rich in the eyes of God.

  11. Whose soul is simple and upright.

  12. Whose conscience is faithful and pure.

  13. Whose spirit rests in God and places all hopes in Christ.

In fine, he/she is a Christian who prefers the treasures of heaven to those of the earth and turns his/her back to the world in order to unite himself/herself totally to God.”

I look up to Samson

Not conquest or strength

Not his hairs length

But his quiet desperation

His gentle plea

His mumbled prayer

His lost sight

His bl00dy eyes

His trembling hands

His solid faith

His last act

The pillars he waste

Not the men he slay

Nor the honey he ate

But the act that saved

His nation

His people

His faith

His hope

His soul

It was his, not God's

His act, God's strength

He faced humiliation without sight

But broke the pillars despite

His act, would have failed

But with God's strength, he prevailed

His act

His act

His act alone

Why do I wish

It was mine. . .

PS not sure how this relates to the quote I found, of why I am posting this (especially this late). this is not meant to be offensive or triggering to anyone (I apologize if it is) but it was on my mind I guess, I wanted to share as humbly as I could something weird but supposedly good.

@7Bear7

While I haven’t searched too deeply, from what I could find, these points are more of a summary of St. Augustine’s works than a quote that can be found anywhere. These are pretty good points, but I haven’t found any evidence of it being an actual quote. I don’t know for sure if that’s your question, but I hope this helps!

Thank you very much! That's very similar to what I could find from the little searching I did. I also just posted to share my wacky poem! ;)

Thank you! 🩵
