Driveway
The hope is lost
to the allure of routine-
to roll up with fanfare
to a predatory house
with its promise of unwinding
swilled in so many bottles.
I am a crime with no witnesses
and it's lonely.
It's all too easy.
To smother the woman before possibilties become a sealed fate
to drown the girl in melancholy-
all these weaknesses dowsed in the perfume of poetry.
And I just want and want and want
I don't need food
I need my head in your lap
fingers in my hair, the sunlight.
It's cold in the driveway
I've been abandoned
and betrayed by strangers-
all of us silly humans
screaming into the void.

A very sad and passionate cry. I really liked the line "All these weaknesses dowsed in the perfume of poetry", and found it very poignant. It is such a harsh lens that the narrating voice uses upon themselves that i feel very sorry for them.
Thank you for sharing this.
@BastionKnight And thanks for the thoughtful review. I wrote this while procrastinating to go inside the house, tapping away on my phone in the car while I froze my butt off lol

Well it seems the muse struck you, so keeping tapping away *smiles*
