Echoes of the lost ones

Echoes of the lost
Still haunt the breathing kins.

We lie in beds,
alive by habit
Dreamless, sleepless.

Memories flash, image by image,
each a ghost
Of happiness, we didn’t know
We were about to lose.

Cruel life does not warn.
It takes your family,
The one you loved most,
right at the peak
Of its destiny.

Traitor Tears gather,
They blur my vision.
I fight it, trying to hold my ground.
But grief remembers faster than I do.

First, the silence came.
thick, spreading,
Unnatural and lonely.

Then the shrieks:
so strained, broken,
carrying more feeling
Than a body should hold.

The mind betrays us.
While living, we overlook everything.
After loss,
Even a single colour knows its name.

The blues we rode.
The greens we felt.
The pinks we were.

And the reds
hidden inside us,
waiting for a reason
to bleed, to grieve

Beautifully written.

Honest.

Raw.

Exposing an honest vulnerability.

Anchored in a quiet hope.

Thank you 💚
