TW//////////// Self harm

There once was a boy with perfect skin,

Not a freckle out of place.

Not too tan, not too fair.

But as he grew older, his arms grew littered with wounds.

His once perfect skin was now tainted with wounds

That went deeper than the surface.

The boy became revolted looking at his arms.

The freckles now looked out of place amongst the scars.

The pale lines standing out against the rest of his skin.

A painful reminder,

That the past is not easily forgotten

A broken porcelain doll can be fix,

but never returned to its once perfect and pure condition.

(Had to edit a line lol)

@OnyxMcG This is beautifully written and sooo heartbreaking. There’s something so raw about the way you capture the passage of time—not just on the skin but on the soul. But maybe, just maybe, perfection was never in being unmarked, but in surviving, in healing, in the stories those marks carry.

In Japan, there’s an art called kintsugi—where broken pottery is repaired with gold, turning its cracks into something even more beautiful than before. Maybe the same applies to people. A porcelain doll may never return to its original form, but with care, its fractures can become golden seams, proof that it was broken, but also that it was mended, and that makes it even more precious.... Once again, Beautiful poem!

@OnyxMcG Love it! It carries a good depth.

And the boy can relate with many things childhood, nature, or just a boy, etc........ And as he grew older perhaps childhood traumas , or maybe bad treatement , abuse , or maybe he got spoiled; for nature, how it got changed by industrialisation and modernisation, etc.; or just a boy with some mental conditions, etc. Also it caters to the temporary nature of beauty, well being, etc..... perfectly and the use of doll makes it perfect that deeper , moral wounds may heal but you will not be normal.

Really liked it . Short but well captures the 'reminder'.
