You never asked for a poet.

I'd change myself

with little pills

to better fit

your escapist delusions

if only that would mean

that you'd love me again.

The tone of your poem conjures up feelings of resignation and desperate forlorn hope mixed with scorn. It makes me wonder what might have occurred to inspire it. Wishing you well.

@BastionKnight How do you manage to summarize and describe my poems so well with only 1 sentence? lol and thank you. I revealed a bit too much of my deep and depressive side to my best friend about a month ago and she hasn't responded since- the last time I remember us actually getting along and having fun together was when I was in an almost manic state while on anxiety meds during the spring. I swore I wouldn't try meds again, but I'm seeing a psych again specifically so that I can be a more palatable person to my best friend and hopefully she'll take me back. (terrible motivation, but it is motivation to get help none the less lol).

It breaks my heart to hear that you feel your display of vulnerability towards your best friend in some way requires you now to make amends. That is not the case, and never should be. Whilst I most certainly hope that things become easier, one would hope your best friend will see the error of their ways in not being as supportive as they might have been. Kindness and understanding should always be something you can rely on from others.
