Home
The air cools,
slipping from the heavy clasp of noon
into the open hands of evening.
Gold leaks from the sky,
softer now, sliding across old stones,
across the hush of distant gardens.
A breeze stirs from the hills,
carrying the lazy gossip of leaves,
whispering in a tongue only half remembered,
lulling me toward dreams.
Above me, the green shimmers,
their edges gilded as if by accident—
and the vines, drunk on yesterday’s rain,
climb and weave into a trembling web
of branch, twig and silvered leaf.
Somewhere in that soft tangle,
the small thrum of new life-
songbirds threading their nests
between the light and the hush.
A beetle struggles free from a web,
the spider, undeterred,
begins again with a patient fury.
Wings beat against the slow silence—
one bird alone rises,
and sings into the vaulted blue.
All around me: green and gold,
and a sky so clear like your eyes.
The trees murmur, the wind stirs,
and from beyond the folded hills,
where water glistens like spilled silk,
your echo finds me.
I am coming home soon.

It is a beautifully painted scene, I absolutely love the way you painted using colors, temperature, touch, and sounds. To me it seems to first show a thriving valley and all its parts and then a soul finally returning or on the journey to that place once more. However I can truly see it having multiple interpretations! It is beautiful Pond! 🩵🩵🩵
@7Bear7 Thank you so much for your kind words! 💙 It means a lot that you noticed the sensory layers. I love your interpretation of the thriving valley and the soul's return..... it's exactly the kind of emotional arc I hoped would come through, even if subtly. The idea that it can have many meanings depending on who's reading it....that's the most magical part of poetry! I'm so glad it resonated with you, Bear. 💫🩵
@azurePond
You are very welcome Pond! I find how poetry can be interpreted differently by any reader or even writers beautiful, but also terrible tragic. Because sometimes you will never know what the exact meaning intended or the other interpretations will truly be in anothers mind, but I suppose it's the same for any other piece of art, hmmm?
@azurePond awwww that's so beautiful 💗 a lullaby of spring and hope and new life 💖 👏👏👏 well done sweetie that was awsome💖 and now I'm smiling💖
