Life is like a Merry-go-round

This poem is dedicated to my friends, past or present, wherever they may be. 💙

Life is like a merry-go-round,

And I think I'm tired of going round alone.

So come with me on this ride,

while I speak to you and confide.

People come and go on this ride,

Some come to talk, some come to hide.

And as we laugh, going round and round,

I know that not everyone can stick around.

I tell myself that it's okay, 

But I can't help but feel gray.

I trust that our bonds will never fray,

But I know that this feeling will never go away.

Like my merry-go-round, the march of time goes on and on,

It's a fact of life. I have to carry on, even though they may be gone.

Yet my hope persists, and my heart remains open,

And my merry-go-round awaits its passengers.

And as I look back at my merry-go-round,

The ponies have grown into pegasi, and the carts into chariots.

And when I look into the rhinestone decorated mirrors of my childhood,

I see myself, a beautiful mosaic of my friends, pieces of them embedded into my very soul.
