Parking Lot
Seagulls make a new oasis
dive-bombing a concrete plain
fishing far beyond
Jason's wine dark horizon
And they circle beyond the deluge
of headlight eyes
and plastic forks and knives
Doves of an aeroplaned peace
in a shopping mall
built up like sand castles
from gasolined snow
@determinedSea4370 This is such an intriguing poem! I love how you’ve captured the contrast between nature and modern life in such a vivid way. The seagulls as a symbol of escape and freedom-- diving over the concrete jungle-- it really makes you think about the disconnect between the world we’ve built and the natural world. The “aeroplaned peace” and “sand castles from gasolined snow” are such powerful, almost surreal images. Honestly, it’s got me thinking about the world in a whole new light! Loved the imageries and the choice of words!
