Poem
Safe-
We are all together in this enclosure
There is nowhere better to go:
We have reached the top.
Yet a butterfly lingers agonizingly in my heart
And a single worry flits slowly in and out-
What if it's not?
Then someone leaves-
Escapes unseen, unnoticed,
And we continue to party
But masks are drawn and smiles are false
And the butterfly…
It multiplies and multiples.
My heart is alive with wings.
Another and another-
They seem to disappear
Where did they go? How?
The fire slowly dies
Our laughs and smiles falter
Everyone starts searching for the escape
I am scared
I don’t want to be alone.
I look and look-
Too much I realize now
For when I turn around
I am alone-
They have all left
Disappeared.
Escaped.
And the fire is gone
I cry desperately
Staring at cruel darkness.
The butterflies swarm my body
They lay siege to my mind
Lifting the curtains to the tragedy in my mind
And I see myself on the stage
Of a deadly a play
The audience is a mocking shadow
And the butterflies descend for the final act
Enclosing me
I am trapped.

This is a beautiful poem, it has a lot of emotions in it and I hope it helped you when writing it.
I really like your use of butterflys, they are generally seen as nice, pretty, gentle, beautiful, but here they aren't quite the antagonist but they could be seen that way. They could also be seen as trying to help the person be lifting the veil. Either way it is beautiful and unique!
