The Day After You Take Your Life

After you take your life,

Your mother refuse to clean your room, 

and your things will collect dust.

Your best friend will beat herself up for not seeing the signs,

And the creative writing you were stressing over in English class,

Will have an A with a note from the teacher, 

Telling you to never stop writing.

The reasons you took your life,

will have been just about to loosen their grip;

You will see your dad cry for the very first time

and it will be terrifyingly raw.

The day after you take your life ,

your best friend will sit in her car and stare at your house,

knowing you tried to shout for help,

And for the first time,

you won’t be able to comfort her.

People will say it couldn’t have been stopped,

but it could have.

If they would’ve looked farther,

If they would’ve seen your smile falter,

If they would’ve wanted to see the signs,

they would have.
