Still, I choose the dark

Can brightness dazzle without the dark?
Can shadows fall without a spark?
Can silence speak if noise won’t part?
The light is so loud, so crisp, so stark.

Yet, my heart still leans to dark,
Quiet grace, a velvet mark.
Soft, unseen, it holds my fight,
A calm that blooms without the light.

It hides the stars, a whispered stream,
A lullaby wrapped in midnight's dream.
And though the light may heal the skin,
It’s in the dark I learned to breathe again.

For those who break but no one sees,
Who smile through storms no one believes
You are not weak for choosing rest,
In shadows where your soul feels blessed.

The light may shine, loud and bright,
But some of us were born from night.
Not broken, just beautifully scarred,
Still standing, still soft, still choosing the dark.
