@Hope Hello everyone! I'm currently a nursing student in my mental health rotation, utilizing this platform to assist real-life individuals with real life problems by means of therapeutic communication. Today was my first day on the site and I have to say it was quite the experience. I've had people listen to me while I talk online and it's so weird to be on the opposite side helping others. I really do hope to make the most out of this experience not only for my class, but for the sake of helping others as well!

Hi. I'm Nix. I'm pretty new here. Been here about a week now. Not really sure what I'm hoping to get out of this, but I know that anything is better than the depression I've been falling into lately.

A little about me. I'm turning 35 in a couple weeks, I married the love of my life coming up on 9 years ago, though we have been together for 15 years. We have a 14 year old daughter, two 2 year old half bengal cats, a 6 month old Chihuahua puppy, and a beta fish. That is essentially what my life consists of.

I don't really have that many friends, and even fewer that are actually similar in age to me. The person I hang out with most besides my husband and daughter is our 63 year old neighbor.

I feel like I don't know how to connect with people, and I've found that once people learn about the things I have been through in my life, they tend to steer clear of me.

I don't have a great relationship with the vast majority of my pretty big family, and a limited relationship with my husband's family. The pandemic has really taken a toll on me, and I'm having to go back to work now but I am terrified because I don't really have much of an immune system. Not to mention my husband and daughter both having asthma. I don't feel mentally capable of getting a job, and I feel like I have no marketable skills or talents.

I guess that's enough for now.

The forums have been a big help to me. I started using the depression sites and now after being a member for a few years I often use the fun and relaxation sites. If however you feel as though you'd benefit from a more personal conversation the site has many good listeners, you may like to try taking that route. Good luck and I hope we speak again in the future.
