Are you tired of thinking “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t apply for that promotion because I’m not management material,” or “The attractive person on the 5th floor wouldn’t want to date someone like me”?

These are all limiting beliefs: They limit you in some way.

Limiting beliefs are any beliefs, thoughts, convictions, or opinions you have that limit you. You believe these to be absolute truths. They prevent you from going after your dreams and goals, and they keep you in your comfort zone. While some limiting beliefs are good – like stealing and killing are bad – most of these beliefs aren’t good for you."

6 Steps to Overcome Your Limiting Beliefs and Live the Life You Deserve

  • Step #1. Identify Your Limiting Beliefs

  • Step #2. Ask Yourself 2 Question When You Have a Limiting Belief

  • Step #3. Understand the Difference Between Beliefs and Truths

  • Step #4. Take Responsibility

Takeaway: Wanting to do something but feeling like you can't or shouldn't is not a pleasant feeling. You are aware of how your limiting ideas hold you down in life, but you are also aware of your own strength.

You always have the ability to take charge of your life and pursue your dreams. Finding out what your limiting beliefs are is the first step. Next, you should think about how your limiting beliefs benefit you and adopt the perspective that they aren't unalterable facts. They merely represent opinions.

Reflection: Have you ever had any limiting beliefs?

@innateJoy9602 This is indeed a very interesting post.

Imagine how many things someone could achieve if they changed this cognitive distortior. The past two years I experienced this type of thought for the first time in my life.

It can really mess up with your confidence and create trouble in achieving your goals. I'm so glad there are applied psychological techniques to change that!

Thanks for the interesting post!
