“October is the ADHD awareness month.

ADHD stands for “Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder”. It is usually associated with hyperactive children but in reality, ADHD affects all ages and it doesn’t have to make you visibly hyperactive at all. You see, your brain can be “hyperactive” in that it makes it hard for you to decide where to direct your attention. Since this makes ADHDers easily distractible, we crave highly stimulating activities that can keep our attention.

Routine everyday tasks are extremely difficult to execute.

ADHDers get easily bored and want to skip to fun stuff immediately

Takeaway: The current hypothesis about what causes ADHD is that brains lack appropriate amounts of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that makes you want to do things. So, ADHD is basically a struggle between trying to only do pleasurable things, when life expects you to do many boring things on a day-to-day basis.

Reflection: If you have ADHD can you relate to any of these? Can you think of other aspects of ADHD?

I do not have ADHD so I can't relate but I find this to be really helpful as a listener!

Interesting! That does sound challenging. Anything that works a bit when you struggle with focusing? Others may find it helpful!💛💫
