On Having A Healthy Mind
“A healthy mind is the opposite of worried — it’s peaceful. It doesn’t care about the things that are either outside its control or are unrealistic. The nature of human beings is that we make mistakes. We can’t live a perfect life. It’s not important whether we make mistakes or not. It’s important that we hold our composure and don’t lose our cool.
I think most of us know what really healthy behavior is. No one is surprised when you say, “It’s not healthy if you’re happy one day and sad the next.” We know that’s not normal. But we often don’t know what normal looks like.
It’s actually a good question. What’s normal behavior? When you grow up in a family that always complains and argues about almost everything (like me), you think it’s normal to live that way.
Sometimes we’re just not aware of what’s healthy. That’s why I like philosophy so much. Because it’s about finding the answers to living a good, and healthy, life.
It’s an ongoing process of trying to become better. And having a healthy mind is one of those things we should always strive for.”

✨Discussion: A serene mind is the contrast of a troubled mind. Matters that are either beyond its reach or unrealistic are unimportant to it. Humans are prone to making errors by nature. We are unable to lead ideal lives. Whether or not we make mistakes is unimportant. It's crucial that we maintain our composure and keep our cool.
✨Reflection: In your opinion, what’s a healthy mind?

To me, having a healthy mind is creating awareness and mindfulness in everything I do. To realize that, yes, I am human and will make mistakes. It's how I perceive and act on those mistakes that will give me either a calm or chaotic mind. Reacting as scattered and in the throes of panic is not healthy. I try very hard to process what I've done from every angle and adjust my response to it. Also, taking the time to go through the progression of examining my environment helps me keep my mind on an even, healthy, keel.
Well said! Normal is very hard to specify. Blaming people for not being "normal" doesn't really make a lot of sense at the end of the day. So we should focus on feeling happy because that's what healthy and meaningful. It's very nice to have time to think about what you want to do, make plans and experience calmness. Stress doesn't leave you space to think and we always need to think before we act to take right decisions and be healthy. Thank you so much for the meaningful post!
@innateJoy9602 I think a healthy mind entails a mind free from negative thoughts and self-doubt; a mind that is able to be compassionate to yourself and to others, a mind that operates with kindness and love.
