“Affection is good. If you want a little more affection in your life, the unconditional love of an animal is unmatched.

A bad day is not in the vocabulary of a pet. In reality, pets make your day better by showering you with their resilient spirit and attitude. Greeting you when you come home from school or work is not a chore for a pet. It is part of their loving and generous nature.

There is a reason why there are designated emotional support and service animals today. While these animals are specially trained to support their owners, all animals can detect the emotions and moods of those around them. In a way, every dog is a service animal to its owners.

Physically interacting with a pet can alleviate stress, boost your mood and force you to go outside when it seems all you are doing is working. Strolling around with your pet can even help you meet new faces and make friends with other pet owners.

Owning a pet is guaranteed to make you more selfless. In the presence of a helpless animal who cannot speak, it is your goal to give the animal whatever food and shelter it needs to be happy. Practicing the virtues of caring for another animal and showing them the same unconditional love your pet shows you are going to make you empathetic and compassionate.”

Takeaway: Pets bring a sense of companionship. At the height of the pandemic, this demand for pets was glaringly apparent. People who had pets felt like there was an additional person around the house to chat to and interact with during this time of isolation. Those who were alone could avoid feeling lonely and felt more purposeful when there was someone else around.

Reflection: Do have any pets? What kind and what are their names?

@innateJoy9602 Pets are extremely beneficial to one's health. Charlie is the name of my gray cat. Even though he has an attitude and can be sassy at times, I still adore him. I've noticed how much calmer I've become since getting my cat; just hearing him purr when I pet him soothes me.

I own a pet. A female cockatiel and her name is Nova. She is the light of my life. She wakes me up in the mornings I don't work night shift. I so enjoy her chirps and calls. She sits on my shoulder when I'm working on the computer and occasionally will walk across the keyboard. She makes life so much more happier in face of the monotony of working and living my mundane life.

Wow a cockatiel! I'm a big morning person so I feel it must be so lovely to wake up to her cheerful chirpings!💜
