The Weather and You

Both psychologically and practically, weather affects us all, every day of our lives. Are you making the most of its good and minimizing the impact of its bad?

If the temperature is mild, the wind gentle, the sun shining but not glaring, are you more likely to be in a good mood, even to be more productive? If so, should you make a point of doing more work and play outdoors?

In inclement weather, do you take a moment to appreciate the cocoon-comfort of indoors, easing your stress, possibly making work more pleasant? Do you take sufficient pleasure in falling asleep to the sound of pattering rain? Can inclement weather motivate you to work and otherwise get stuff done?

Weather is one of nature’s amazing creations. Might you allow yourself a few minutes to stare at the clouds scud by, whether the white billows and wisps of good weather or the gray emblems of bad? The benefits of cloud-watching may extend beyond restfulness to spawning creativity and even humility, reminding us of our small place in the larger order of things.

Technology is giving us power over the weather. Machine-learning computers are making weather forecasting ever more accurate, helping us more confidently decide what to do this weekend. Renewable energy and better insulation are harnessing weather for our comfort and the planet's.

I love rainy weather!

It makes me feel cozy and I love watching it fall as I read a book by the window!💛💫

@innateJoy9602 Same! I believe that rainy weather is a great opportunity to stay home and be creative with cooking, watch a movie and generally do self-care. It's not an exuse to not be productive. On the contrary it provides people with this extra time that they may be missing due to their everyday schedule. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

@calmDew1576 I'm better with the sun and warm temps where most of the day can be spent outside in the garden and green house or the woods

I like to see snow and play in it even cleaning it up isn't too bad but I don't like to be cold

Rain is ok for alittle if it hasn't rained for awhile but too much for too long and it adds to any depression that's there. I do like a good thunderstorm with lots of lightning

Bad weather usually means being inside and that's a struggle - being couped up in the house

@mytwistedsoul I understand! It's true that generally a good weather is associated with a better mood. I would suggest you try to find activities that you like and try to activate other senses that contribute to happiness. For example, I love aromatherapy. I like lighting up a candle and watching movies, or reading a book. Cooking some cozy food is also a favorite of mine. Inviting friends over is also a good idea. Don't let the weather drag you down, you got this! Thank you for sharing your experience with us <3
