When the Mind Is Not Working for You
“The mind may be a powerful friend or a dangerous adversary. Here’s how to keep it on your side even in the worst of situations.
IT’S ALL FOR NONE
Obstacles are a natural part of the journey, so make friends with them. In other words, it is preferable to admit that they exist and must be conquered. How? Consider their challenges rather than impassable barriers. One strategy is to temporarily decrease your expectations: if time is your priority but you can’t better it, switch the challenge to new terrains, such as running. For example, the goal of training is no longer to increase time but just to train.
ANALYZE THE BIG PICTURE
Always attempt to view the larger picture and don’t give yourself too many responsibilities. It is not up to you whether it is hot or cold; if you have ideas that you cannot handle, simply be tolerant. You can’t control everything or shape a world that exists outside of your volition
THINK POSITIVE
I know what you’re thinking: this is a cliché, but don’t dismiss (apparent) platitudes: they contain a lot of truth. This has historic roots, for example, Buddha remarked, “We are what we believe.” It does not imply that if you imagine you are a mountain, you will become one, but rather that thinking influences reality, as psychology has long demonstrated. Not in the sense that it generates it, but rather that it predisposes the mind to either positive or bad outcomes. If you approach an issue with a negative attitude, you are unlikely to receive a positive result, just as there are no winners who felt they would never win. Thinking positively puts your mind in a proactive mode, allowing you to cope with problems rather than being overwhelmed by them.”

✨Takeaway: Keep in mind that your mind is a constant ally. It is a very potent tool that could aid you in overcoming challenges, but it can also leave you feeling as though you are incapable of overcoming them. Use these tactics to your advantage when it tries to get you to give up: Be hopeful, keep your expectations in check, and consider the bigger picture.
