Leadership Opportunities AMA: Interview with InternalAcceptance!

On 7 Cups, leadership roles encompass a wide range of positions where folks can volunteer their time and expertise to support the community's growth, safety, and well-being. These roles include but are not limited to moderating forums, mentoring new listeners, overseeing specific projects or teams, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of different community areas. They are integral to ensuring 7 Cups remains a supportive and effective platform for everyone.
To spread awareness of our many opportunities, I have launched the Leadership AMA series. Each month, we'll be holding an AMA for all things leadership, but with an extra special addition! We'll be featuring different leadership positions and teams every month, giving you a chance to hear directly from those with active leadership experience.
Last week's session was our first and our special guest was our Quality Ambassador overseeing the Anonymous Evaluations Team, @InternalAcceptance. I conducted an interview with them that I will share for your enjoyment and education!
🎤
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your leadership journey on 7 Cups?
I've loved mentoring other listeners. It's been amazing to watch everyone grow and form their own listening style.
How has your leadership experience on 7 Cups contributed to your personal growth and development?
I've gained a lot of skills in leadership on Cups that I've been able to transfer into my daily life. Delegating has been a huge one as well as conflict resolution and team building skills.
What is one piece of advice or tip you would give someone embarking on a leadership path here on Cups?
Try not to take on too much at once. It can be exciting to take on multiple roles but it's so important to get settled into and comfortable with one role at a time.
What does your team do?
The Anonymous Evaluation Team uses team-assigned member accounts to evaluate the quality of listeners in order to make sure that the site remains safe and that quality is maintained.
What makes your team's work feel personally fulfilling or impactful? / What's the most rewarding part about being a member of this specific team?
I find that the part that makes the work so fulfilling is that it really does help uphold the quality that members deserve.
How can someone best prepare themselves to join AE and/or any team in general—maybe even become a team lead themselves one day?
To prepare to join AE, I would encourage everyone to complete the Active Listening tests and become familiar and comfortable with the active listening skills. Self-care is also such a vital part of AE and 7 Cups as a whole. To become a team leader, find a project that you're really passionate about. Make sure to communicate with the current leaders about any interest that you might have about roles as well! We can't always know who wants to be in leadership unless they talk to us.
