@CompoundingHappiness joined the Cups family in August of last year and has flourished as not only a leader of many positions but also as a caring approachable mentor demonstrating inspirational levels of integrity. Read on to learn more about this passionate leader!
Why did you nominate Comphi?
“Comphi is an amazing mod and mentor. In the chat rooms as a mod, he displays the most amazing approach to his modding and he utilizes a very thoughtful and kind approach. Never does he lose his professional and calm nature, and he treats everyone with respect. He is found on the daily supporting the listener chatroom and when he is not in the room he is often quite busy with other teams he is a part of such as the verifier team and safety patrol. In the past month, Comphi was labeled as a top verifier with over 71 listeners he has verified. In his role as a quality mentor, he is a part of the anonymous evaluations team and he takes his role very seriously and always behaves with integrity. Comphi is most humble and is a true leader. Comphi displays these qualities so much that others around him notice these qualities and on two occasions he has been recruited for other mentor roles one being academy mentor! Thank you for everything you do here Comphi!”
QnA with Comphi:
What motivates you to be a volunteer?
Isn’t everything voluntary? Each action is voluntary, and you always have the choices to do it or not do it. To be specific, people put their free time to other uses (I don’t say it's wrong, everything is voluntary), so I decided to utilize my potential here. Self -Discovery motivates me to be on this platform, how much I have left in me, how much time can I provide to please and appreciate someone, and how much value I can provide to my words. Words are weapons as well as shields, words are knowledge, and words have power. I volunteer to learn more, gain more, acknowledge more, prove myself more, and allow my words a free road to travel across oceans.
Your proudest 7 Cups achievement?
I am proud of logging into this platform each day. My proudest achievement comes with the well-being of others. When I receive a PM from someone that they like my approach in LSR, or when I see a returning Listener come into my PMs and say that my previous guidance helped them with a new chat, it’s a proud moment for me. Not because I helped them, but because I am putting my learnings into correct use. I feel proud to be given the opportunities this platform has provided me and I feel proud within myself when I realize that I am not abusing those powers. I feel proud to know that I am putting two hours of my day into something that will never go to waste, that my guidance to another listener is helping a member in some part of the world, and that my words have reached them somehow and they just might be able to sleep peacefully that night.
Which fellow 7 Cups leader(s) do you admire and why?
I am a person known to speak from heart, both in my own life and my off life. Aren’t we all leaders in our own rights? We wake up every day, hustle and grind each day, so that makes us all leaders. Now Coming to 7 Cups leaders, I honestly believe every person who puts in their efforts and time into this platform to make it a more happening place is a leader in their own rights. Listeners take care of members, mentors take care of listeners, and ambassadors take care of the mentors. Everything is co-related, no single mindset can achieve what this platform is achieving every day. It's an inclusive effort. I genuinely believe, anyone who puts their time into something voluntarily is a leader in my books. Everyone has a story to tell, you will never know what you might learn from a person who is not in a “leadership position” yet. I keep re-discovering myself whenever I take mock chats for the listener verifications process and then I learn something else when I am performing for other teams. There is just so much potential in every human brain, all we need is a little push to unleash that extra bit and transform the world and this platform into a better place, which is already changing lives slowly and steadily. So, in my books, everybody is a leader and I genuinely thank everyone who has come across me on this platform. And I believe I will come across thousands more and learn something from each one of them.
Which active listening skills help you when communicating with your teammates and fellow leaders?
Something far beyond which active listening skills or this platform has taught me is to remain genuine, true to my words, and be respectful. While active listening taught me the concepts of listening better, the overall charm of the platform has taught me on how to become a better human. Active listening follows you everywhere when you are a good person at heart. Don’t they say gentle words melt hearts? If I have to be precise, I do a lot of validation and reflection of the opposite person, and I try and learn from much more experienced people. I read interviews in the forum post so that I learn how to use words precisely. I remain patient with everyone and listen to them before responding because in no case, I want the other person to feel let down because of me. Mistakes make us human, but appreciating others and their efforts makes us better people. Everything is a two-way process.
Comphi can you tell us what motivates your approach to mentoring/modding?
The most important thing to remember while performing any role on this platform is to never forget that we are all volunteers. We are all equals, the only difference we have comes from experience. Otherwise, we are unaware, of who is old or young, and sometimes we are even unaware of the gender, so there is totally no discrimination. I feel this is the beauty of this platform and that must be respected. Before going ahead in any role, I always remind myself that any person, be it a member, a normal listener, or any other mentor is equally important. We together form this community, no single person can take it forward, it's an inclusive effort. And as I said earlier,
My first and foremost motto is to respect everyone. Until and unless I treat others with respect, they will not respect me back. So everyone who is putting their precious time into this platform is equally important and well deserving of every respect we as a person and as mentors can give them. Being a mentor means setting an example for others so that others know it is a good place to be in and they themselves can aim for higher roles, only then will we be able to provide quality support here. We are not competing against anyone here and my thought process has never been that of competition. I don't intend to answer many many questions and catch the limelight, but my main intentions are to back everyone on this platform and let them know whatever happens I am there with them and I am only a message away. What motivates me is just the thought that so many volunteers are ready to give their time to this community, which I consider the most precious thing of all because you can never get it back, and they do it for only one thing or can I say those few words:- “you are really helpful”. A member can say it after a nice session with a listener, a listener can say it to another listener after a chat support or peer support session, or a mentor could say it to the ambassador if they face difficulty in their role.

Thank you Heather for putting the spotlight on Comphi. That was a great choice. I have interacted with Comphi in the Listener Support Room. I could see how professional and kind she acts. She gives valid solutions to listeners facing problems. I am not at all shocked that she was voted top verifier. I feel like it would have been a privilege doing a mock chat with her.
@CompoundingHappiness
Your work in Cups is important Comphi. Those two hours that you dedicate to cups make a difference, not only to the listeners you directly interact with but also in extension members you don't directly interact with. You inspire listeners to grow. I like the fact that you did not pinpoint a specific person when asked who motivates you. It true, there is a light in each and everyone of us. There is so much potential in each and everyone of us. I appreciate you pointing that out Comphi. Thank you for taking your voluntary role in cups seriously.

Those are some beautiful words you just put there😄. I appreciate your reading through. Yes, we came across recently and I look forward to sharing some more time with you. And yes I am ‘He’😅. I am a male listener. No worries, in the end we are all listeners. See you around Joy😃
