Book Recommendations Please!
I really love historical fiction and non-fiction especially, along with other kinds. Any recommendations for me? Thanks! <3

heyy, here are a few of my favourites:
1. to kill a mockingbird - its very popular, subtly disturbing and thought provoking, its basically how the black community is not treated well (tw: sexual assault, violence)
2. the book thief - it even has a movie adaptation, its basically written in such a way that death is the narrator, its extremely engaging, its based on nazism and ww2
3. the boy in the striped pyjamas - again, it was made into a movie too, its so innocent and pure which is what makes it so impactful, the ending is going to bring tears to you, again based on nazism
4. shadow - if you love pets, this one's for you, its based on the afghanistan war, its very heartwarming in general
5. a thousand splendid suns - its a very very loaded and impactful piece, it really can wreck you, again its set in afghanistan but it mainly focuses on the unspeakable struggles that women underwent there (tw: lots of violence against women, sexual triggers) it an amazing book
6. train to pakistan - its set in a village on the border between india and pakistan during the partition, the narration is in a very down to earth ordinary manner which is what makes it special in my opinion
well these are what i could think of right now, most of them are kind of tragic though :) happy reading!

Oooh The Book Thief was INCREDIBLE! <3 It was hard for me to follow the first time I read it, but it was great the second time. It’s one of those books that you have to read in a quiet, uninterrupted space, to fully understand it. <3
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the movie version, is such a tear jerker, especially at the end!
Have you ever watched Life is Beautiful? It’s in Italian. THAT seems like something sweet and tragic you’ll love! It’s based in WWII.

we seem to have quite similar tastes! but nope, i haven't watched life is beautiful yet, although i have heard about it, i'll check it out when i find time :))

I also love The Tattooist of Auschwitz, and the 2 books that came after. So deep... and also romantic <3

I have so many favorites, but I’ll narrow it down to a few for now.
Historical fantasy fiction: The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden. Set in Medieval Russia. In order, the books are The Bear and the Nightingale, The Girl in the Tower, and The Winter of the Witch.
Historical realistic fiction: The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. Set in WWI Belgium.
Nonfiction animals: Secrets of the Octopus by Sy Montgomery.
Nonfiction memoir: The Despair of Monkeys and Other Trifles by Françoise Hardy.
I’ve never heard of any of those but they have really cool, intriguing names <3
