im bad at writing reviews about books but i recently finished girl in pieces i honestly really enjoyed it but it does have a lot of different triggering topics involved in it

@kylersartpace I'm still just in the beginning but basically it is a 14 years old girl whose family is going away under the pretense of her father supervising some archaeological site. But she finds out it is a pretense because they are running away from a scandal of her father being accused of all his findings being fake. So they are now on this island where I am in the book and trying to get used to their new life. However I know from the short synopsis on the back that her father will die under mysterious circumstances and she will be trying to find out what is going on if I understand correctly and the back of the book also points towards the tree of lies itself being real in the book If I'm correct. The book is taking place in the past as the main character mentioned wearing a corset and some other more historical clothing, and has overall some gothic vibes. I don't think the sun shined once in the 54 pages I read. Also it is full of tws about bad parenting, parentification and favouritism (and a little bit of gender based discrimination especially in difference how the main character gets treated compared to her brother), so I wouldn't recommend it in case these are triggering for you. (my spoiler loving brain couldn't help it and checked ahead in the book but the theme seems to stay strong till the end). If you are interested I can let you know after I finished it how it is later.

it does seem interesting and stuff the one i finished girl in pieces well ill try not spoil it to much so it starts off where shes in a mental hospital type of thing and all and then once shes out she finds a whole new life but also still has to deal with the things she was struggling with that caused her to be in the mental hospital and all theres many trigger warnings like sh neglect rape and others i cant think of hang on heres a better bit of it its what it says on the back of the book Charlie Davis is in pieces. At seventeen, she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget it through cutting; the pain washes out the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. She doesn't have to think about her father or what happened under the bridge. Her best friend, Ellis, who is gone forever. Or the mother who has nothing left to give her. Kicked out of a special treatment center when her insurance runs out, Charlie finds herself in the bright and wild landscape of Tucson, Arizona, where she begins the unthinkable: the long journey of putting herself back together.

@kylersartpace it sounds interesting, thank you for telling me. Also, don't worry I love spoilers, I'm one of those people who read the entire plot of a movie on Wikipedia before watching it just to see if it is worth my time 😅 so don't worry about spoilers 😊
@sadcat13 I've only ever read one book in my life😕 and that was snow white, when I was younger. From what I can remember I give it a 7 out of 10. I only rate this a 7 cause the story had happy and grumpy in it.😁

The Selection by Kiera Cass. This was all the rage back in my high school days, but it was one that I didn't finish because it was boring. Well, I finished it, and it still bored me, sadly. I'm so sad too because I was expecting so much more!
@PopPunkPrincess17 I know the feeling. It is always disappointing to see the hype around it and then it not being anywhere that good. Had a similar experience with the Good girls guide to murder. The reviews were very good, then I read it and it was a disappointment. Thank you for telling us about your experience 😊

I actually just finished The Charm Offensive and all I can say is it was really good!! The plot itself is already interesting at the very beginning, I like how it progressed and the grammar level was enough for my teeny brain to understand. It actually reminded me of how people have their own unique perspectives on a certain situation, what we might think what happened may not what have happened for them which is something I did not expect to get

Basically this one smart pep (Charlie) founded a company with his friend but was kicked out for being "crazy" when in reality he just had a panic attack at that time. In an attempt to restore his reputation, he joined a reality dating show but he finds physical contact with girls unbearable (which was a big trouble since he'd have to do intimate moments with these 12 girls in the show) and riding horses scary (which is apparently needed in order to bring out this prince-like persona). On the other side, there's this one pep who always believed in happily ever after (Dev) and he became Charlie's handler because Charlie's previous handler (Ryan, who was also Dev's 6 year ex) found Charlie unbearable to manage. And thennn after multiple events and stuffs..I'll end it here incase I spoil some of you reading this heh
