ROMANTASY IS GETTING REAL YALL
What is the term Romantasy actually mean?
Humans making out with elves.
Ogres getting married to fairies.
Ladies riding dragons..etc.
Fantasy erotica. Erotica fantasy with... romance? Oh God.
But, does it work?
This word actually may create a visceral cringe reaction in some people. How about we call it fantasy romance? Or like paranormal romance. Even urban fantasy sort of worked cause you’d know what you were getting. Some people are confused too. Is it Romantic Fantasy? Fantasy Romance? Fantasy with tragic love stories? Erotica and fantasy?
Yes.
I thought "Romantasy" was my new favorite word but it feels kind of... wrong?
Is this word really overwhelmingly popular right now to the point where it's hard to find new books in other types of fantasy? Or does it merely seem super popular because of the *** infobubble? Right now, romantasy equals money, and publishers are a corporation first and foremost. They’re going to chase that profit, and much of the time, they don’t appear to see it in marginalized authors’ works, attaching labels that subcategorize those books even more.
Everyone’s writing romantasy. Who gets to reap the benefits of that label, however, is a different story—and one that has little to do with whether a book actually fits into the definition. Because apparently, we haven’t agreed upon what that definition is.
What's your opinion about that? Is it time we changed the term or not?

I love to read but it's honestly not a genre that interests me!
I'm not into the whole werewolf, dragon, elf dimensions.
Not my cup of tea 🥰
