Writer's block

When an author cannot produce new work or exhibits a creative slowdown, it is called writer's block. The lack of creativity is not due to commitment problems or a lack of writing ability.

1. Have you ever experienced writer's block? What do you think might cause it?

2. How did you manage it?/ What are some ways to overcome writer's block?

I have definitely experienced writer's block. Sometimes I think the best way to overcome it is to immerse yourself in something else. Completely stop thinking about what you need to write and just let your mind complete rejuvenate and recalibrate. Then the ideas can begin to flow again :)

I have experienced writer's block and normally I find it is caused by either A. You have a plot hole B. You need to take a brief break and do something else or C. You have no clue where to go from there.

How I solve this is, I figure out how I want my story/chapter to end and try to figure out how to get there. I also have a jar of writing dates in case my story needs some action and sometimes, I'll pull a piece of paper out and try to incorporate it into the story. My last cure is doing something else for a while, like writing another story or a research paper. Maybe learning something new or painting or going for a walk. Or take a shower or have a picnic.
