Do you ever feel.....?
Hot/cold
Up/down.
Full/hungry.
Alert/tired..
As though your brain and body aren't quite aligned? It was an early start but I still accomplished everything but I didn't sleep much so by the time the afternoon came around I was really drowsy, although at the same time, feeling very much awake.
Then I was cold, really, cold, warm, boiling but lacking the energy to get the fan or some ice poles. I couldn't settle to do anything.
But I still see it as a good day because I wasn't disrespected for once. Plus trying a bunch of new foods/snacks always makes me smile.
Is the best thing to do switch off or should I focus? Nap and let my body heal or stay awake in the hopes, tonight will be a glorious deep sleep.
Hmm :)
(Ps for those thinking it was a hot flash, it wasn't) 😳😂
@ScrabbleBrain
I get what you mean 🤗🩵
Sometimes you wake up and your head is mind doesn't align with your body.
Normally it takes me a while to get going.
But trying new foods is never on my agenda 😂😂😂🩷
@Amanda84 yes like the brain is saying.. Come back later, staff meeting.
I'll trick you into eating something new..
I'll say it's nuggies in disguise, with a twist, a different colour and taste and shape 😁
@ScrabbleBrain
Or maybe just blindfold me, might work better 😂😂😂🩷
@Amanda84 oh but I wanted to do Here comes the aeroplane but I can say Close your eyes for a nuggie surprise instead 🤥
@ScrabbleBrain
I absolutely love here comes the airplane, never gets old 😂😂😂😂😂

Yes, I definitely experience days like that—where my body feels exhausted, but my mind refuses to slow down, or where I somehow feel both alert and tired at the same time. It can be a strange and frustrating feeling, almost as if different parts of you are operating on completely different schedules.
What stood out to me in your post is that despite feeling physically out of sync, you still found reasons to call it a good day. I think that's easy to overlook. Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to feel "normal" that we forget to appreciate the small moments that still brought us joy, like trying new foods or simply being treated with respect.
Personally, when I've had days like this, I've found that forcing myself to focus usually doesn't work very well. Sometimes the most productive thing is actually to rest, even if it's just for a short while. Our bodies are often wiser than we give them credit for.
I hope tonight brings you the deep, restorative sleep you're hoping for. And even if it doesn't, I hope you're able to be gentle with yourself. Not every day has to feel perfectly aligned to be a good day.
Also, I smiled at your final note—it's funny how quickly people jump to conclusions when temperature fluctuations are involved. 😄
@TheJourneyOfResilience Thank you for your kind words, I'm happy you found your ideal remedy, it's what aids you in that moment.
Naps are glorious :) but I have a short window to be productive and I think I mostly soldier on and meet my deadlines, rather than risk oversleeping and my brain being too fuzzy to remember everything, that's happened before ha.
Tomorrow is a high stress day but the rest of the week, will be manageable and I can rest easier to compensate :)
How is your day/week going?
I try to interject humour where possible, to reclaim that lightness back
