A trope in literary terms is a plot device or character attribute that is used so commonly in the genre that it’s seen as commonplace or conventional.

For example, a trope in superhero stories is a villain who wants to take over the world.

Here are some common tropes found in romance novels;

1. Love triangle

2. Billionaire

3. Friends to lovers

4. Enemies to lovers

5. Stuck together

6. Forbidden love

7. Fake relationship

8. Soul mates

9. Second chance lovers

Honestly, I feel like everyone is obsessed with enemies to lovers but I don't really like it to be honest. Mostly cause of the sexual tension it causes, and I'm asexual lol.

Some tropes I like are

Betrayal, but it was to keep the other safe but they can't tell them so they break each others hearts

When one gets jealous

When their friends work together to get them together

When they meet in weird/ awkward situations

When they are just really wholesome together

"You touch them and I'm gonna unalive you"

When it has good disabilities/ mental illness/ poc representation

Basically all of these, but queer. Just a sprinkle of LGBTQ+ please. Or dump the whole thing.

I really enjoy enemies to best friend tropes. I think it brings a wholesome value to it and gives a lot of dynamic that we wished to see when we see them against each other originally.
