Lilly's Creative Space(All welcome)
Hi Beautiful People, I am Lilly and I wanted to make a space that we can all share, creative thoughts of anything from short stories to poems and songs. Feel free to share yours below.
This is a short story I wrote for English class but I love it.
Sirens rang out through the crisp autumn air.
The ambulance came barrelling towards the scene of the accident. The scene that I saw was horrific. Bodies thrown through their windscreens. Blood, pooling on the ground.
Suddenly our morning didn’t seem so bad.
TEN MINUTES EARLIER
With a sharp U-turn, Dad whipped the car around. I was so annoyed. How could Dad have forgotten his wallet. My younger sister Lilliana whined from her car seat.
“I’m gonna be late, I won’t get to see my friends!”
Me?
I just hate being late, not just to school, but anywhere for that matter.
Our car bounds down the motorway. The destination? Our house.
We were going to be late all because Dad left his stupid wallet on the counter at home. For goodness sake.
We pull into our driveway five dreadfully long minutes later. Dad rushes inside to retrieve his wallet so we can be on our way. The trusty car roars back to life, ready to escort us to school once again. Within minutes we were back flying along the motorway. We were all frustrated and irritated.
“Who would’ve thought you kiddos actually wanted to go to school!” Dad joked.
I groaned.
“I just want to play with Bella!
“Soon sweetheart.” Dad assures her.
You could tell he was keen for the ordeal to be over.
That’s when I saw it. All the cars piled up. There had been a crash, a bad crash. Dad, along with a few other drivers stepped out of their vehicles ready to assist where possible.
He rapped his knuckles on the window.
“Girls, stay here, I don’t want you getting hurt!”
“Yes Dad.” Lilliana and I managed to choke back.
I was in shock. All it took was ten minutes. Ten minutes to get Dad’s wallet for this to happen.
That’s when it hit me.
It could’ve been us.
