Before you read there is blood, gore, and death
I can’t sleep. It’s 2:30 am, and the darkness wraps around me like a suffocating blanket. Every time I close my eyes, the same nightmare claws its way back into my mind. I die in the end every single time. Is this some twisted reality or just a cruel trick of my imagination? I can barely distinguish between my dreams and my waking life anymore. As I lie in bed, the midnight hours creeping by, the thought of asking for help flickers in my mind. But I’m paralyzed by fear. What if they see me as a monster, just like my parents, and lock me away in a place where the walls whisper my secrets?
My family is a stain on my soul, a legacy of horror and bloodshed that I can never seem to wash away. My mother and father were killers, bound together by something far more sinister than mere love. They were entwined in a chaotic dance that left a trail of destruction in their wake, and I’m their only child, left to carry this unbearable weight alone. Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if I had a sibling. Were they meant to share this cursed existence with me? Who knows what they might have become? But I’m not like them. I have this eerie ability; I can communicate with death itself. It sounds like something out of a horror movie, yet it is my reality. It’s the only skill I cherish, though the rest of my identity feels drenched in darkness, teeming with murderous instincts that I’ve never acted on until a fateful night forever etched in my memory.
I remember being just a child, tucked away in an alley, my small heart racing as a menacing figure lurked in the shadows. Panic gripped me, every instinct yelling for me to run. But there was nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. My hand instinctively grasped a shard of glass glimmering in the moonlight, and in a split second, without even fully comprehending what I was doing, I drew it across his throat. It all happened so fast, an animalistic reaction, fueled by a primordial fear. The man’s eyes widened in shock, a startled gasp escaping his lips before silence fell. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone; my body just reacted, survival taking over. They say it’s fascinating, but all I feel is the cold grip of a heartless killer creeping into my very identity.
Now it’s 2:40 am, and my thoughts spiral deeper into despair. I long to reach out to my crush, but I know he sees the craziness swirling around me, and I can’t blame him. What would I say? “Hi, I’m the daughter of murderers and a reluctant murderer myself. Want to go for a coffee?” I know he wants me, even if he won’t admit it, perhaps sensing the dark allure that surrounds me. His gaze has a dangerous intensity, reminiscent of the way my parents looked at their victims before taking their lives. It’s intoxicating and terrifying all at once, drawing me in while sending shivers down my spine.
But I can’t share his name; it’s too precious, too dangerous. His identity is a curse sealed in silence. He is a beacon of light in my distorted reality, yet I fear to speak his name. It lingers on the tip of my tongue like a forbidden incantation, potent but perilous. You can call him whatever you like, but his true identity belongs to the shadows of my soul, hidden behind the layers of darkness that threaten to consume me.
As the clock ticks closer to 3:00 am, I feel the heaviness of the night seep deeper into my bones. Sleep seems out of reach, an elusive solace that remains just outside my grasp. Tomorrow, I’ll face my parents again, the very figures I’m terrified to become. They are waiting for me, hidden behind their walls of dark desires and past sins, and I can only hope I’m ready for whatever awaits me. I often find myself pondering whether I might be cut from the same cloth, inheriting their twisted tendencies. How can I be sure that I am different when my bloodline is steeped in crimson?
The hours drag on, and my mind races through doubting thoughts. I think of my mother, her sweet smile veiling a heart that thrummed with malice. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and hers danced with a fervor as she recounted her horrifying tales. I can still hear her voice in my mind, speaking of sacrifices made and the thrill of dominance. And my father, a man whose laughter was as chilling as the events he often described, shared an almost insatiable hunger for chaos. In moments when his eyes gleamed with excitement, I knew another life was about to meet a violent end.
Yet somewhere in me, I feel a lingering hope, flickering stubbornly like a flame resisting the wind. I want to believe my fate is not doomed by my lineage but shaped by my choices. I’ve spent countless nights grappling with my identity, the battle between who I am and who I fear I might become raging inside. There’s this voice in my head that calls out, urging me to embrace the darkness. But another voice, softer yet stronger, reminds me of the value of life, the beauty in moments shared with people I care about.
Still, as dawn approaches, I feel overwhelmed by uncertainty. In the quiet hours, everything feels amplified—the sound of my heartbeat, the chilling whispers of my parents in the back of my mind, and the undeniable pull of the darkness. I find solace momentarily in the idea of the crush I’ve dared not name; he represents something more than just desire. He feels like a tether, perhaps the only connection to normalcy amidst the chaos. If only I could speak to him, share my fears, and let him glimpse the real me.
But could he really understand? Would he still want me, or would he pull away, disgusted by my reality? I’m terrified of his rejection, of showing him the monster I fear lurks within. Maybe it’s safer to keep him at a distance, wrapped in the safety of my silent longing. The thrill of the unknown draws me to him like a moth to a flame. But I can’t allow myself to burn.
With each passing moment, the darkness begins to relent, giving way to the soft hues of dawn. I know that despite the horrors of my lineage, I must rise and confront the day. For in the light, shadows become less menacing, and perhaps tomorrow is a step toward reclaiming my life, free from the blood-soaked legacy I inherited. I take a deep breath, steeling my resolve. Whatever awaits beyond this moment, I’ll face it head-on. Even if it means unleashing the shadows hiding within my soul.

🥺
So much trauma.
So much pain.
So much buried deep.
Dark.
Unsettling.
Silent.
That continues to awaken at night.
Invading your dreams, your thoughts , until you think it's your reality, the only way through is to face it 🥺
💕💜
@Amanda84 yeah, it is a really sad story, and you have to face the dark in order to embrace who you truly are. This is a piece that really meant a lot to me, not necessarily the storyline, but how you worry you're not good enough for love and to turn out like your parents and never really be your own.
@blueKitten2804
Yes, parents and people around us can be restrictive but ultimately you forge your own path and hopefully become the type of person you want to be 💜💕
@Amanda84 yeah, exactly, and I really feel that.

@blueKitten2804 This story is unsettling yet deeply human. I love how the horror feels psychological rather than just visceral.... like watching someone wrestle their own bloodline in the dark but the readers are left not knowing who wins the match!
