Am I in the right path?

So after almost a month of no contact, my ex and I had a talk about what went wrong. I'm still deeply hurt of what happened and I am trying to move on. But after that talk, I feel confused of the decision I made. Him and I both agreed to stay as friends and try getting back together after some time. Now, I'm scared if this will work or not. I am risking again but what can I do I still love him. I have so many what ifs in my head, all negative. But I know how to control my emotions and I keep them to myself. Just that I think I made a wrong move by telling him I still have feelings for him. Do I need more time to heal before agreeing to being friends? I feel I can move on by being friends with him though but also I'm hoping for him to change. I just don't know if I'm on the right track.

I definitely think that you need a little time for healing. If you are constantly taking to him, it may be hard to stop thinking about him in a more than friends way. Maybe try the distant friend route first and limit contact.

I don't initiate contact. I limit it but he contacts often. I just reply when he does. Yes I think I really need more time to heal. But do I really need to stop thinking abt him in a more than friends kind of way when we're also planning to try getting back together?
