Am I just a hopeless romantic?
My ex and I broke up around 6 months ago after over 5 years together. Everyone told me it would take time and to just "move on" but after 6 months apart I can still truly say that I don't want to. We both are in very transitional points in our lives, whether thats finding careers, or finding new living situations. I don't think the breakup was unnecessary and I do see the progress we have made apart while we focused on only ourselves. After all this time I still love her just the same and she has told me that she feels the same way. It seems like anyone I talk to only gives us advice of "cut them out" or "you will find someone else" and it makes me wonder if its just the way society has learned to approach break ups? Call me a hopeless romantic but I do truly believe in the right person wrong time scenario. I want nothing more than our paths to cross again and I can't see myself with anyone else in life. I guess now I just keep my head high and wait for time to tell.

I totally get what you are saying and I absolutely agree that the "right person, wrong time" is a legit scenario that happens sometimes.
In your post, I really admire how you mentioned that you are both seeing the benefit of working on your personal situations and making good progress. And it is ok to take this time to work on your own goals so that when you do get back together, you will both be in a really great place as individuals.
The universe has a way of helping us see what we need...keep the faith in your relationship. A break does not mean the end ❤️
All the best to you both happily reuniting one day!
