American born chinese married to chinese man
Hi,
im an American born chinese married to a mainland chinese man and I realise we are very different and actually I’m not happy, I’m fact I’d leave if I could but I have young kids I have to put firs and I’m financially dependent on hubby and his family (who have given us money).
does anyone have an light to shed about the chinese culture? As I’m trying to be happy but I don’t know how. There’s so many issues but I feel stuck… by the way I’m having to live with his parents in the near future, they are moving in with us… so much hurt has been caused especially by his mum yet i have to treat her with respect
Sorry I didn’t finish my post!
but basically yeah that’s it. If anyone is chinese I’d really like to talk to you! And ask for some insight into the culture.
thanks for reading.
hi I would love to provide some help and support. Me and my husband are both from Chinese speaking countries and our children were born in us. I can imagine your anxiety to solve the cultural differences in your relationship. I also want to share - even my husband and I are from the same hometown, we are still suffering all kinds of differences and disagreements, especially about raising children. It is not easy to give an “overall” culture insight. Do you have any specific questions maybe i can share my thoughts and experience from my prospective?
I do recommend you to start building your financial independence, it is not ideal to rely on your husband’s parents to be the financial source. Most of the Chinese cultures parents feel they “own” their children and “give opinions” to their children’s life. Financial dependence will surely limit your options.
