Can't let go

I dated a girl over the summer who I met at work. We had fantastic chemistry and the whole relationship was great and we both quickly fell in love. We both thought we had a long and bright future and I looked forward to it a lot. After about 3 months she realized she wasn't in the right place to maintain a serious relationship. I respected it, we broke up. It was painful for us both. I tried to remain friends but it was still too painful for me after about a month. So we distanced ourselves. The problem is, since we work together, I see her everyday and it slowly eats away at me during the work day. I can't help but be triggered to think about our relationship. Good memories, missing her, wondering what she is up to, wondering if she thinks of me, among other things.

I feel like I already know all the rational things to think and if I could just forget about her I would, but I can't. My brain just keeps digging things up and it gets exhausting. Changing jobs isn't really an option at the moment, but maybe In the next few months.

I just feel so out of control with my emotions, I may be emotionally immature, because I stayed away from dating for several years. It's been about 2 and a half months now and I'm just so frustrated that this is still getting me down so much. I don't know what do. Maybe I need therapy. I could probably dump thousands of words in here about everything I am thinking and is bothering me. I just feel like I should have some kind of choice in my self, since I didn't get a choice in the relationship, but I can't seem to let go.

I know people are out there going through way worse than me, but I can't seem to find any peace or direction right now.

That is understandable , specially when you have that kind of chemistry. You never know what the future may hold, maybe you will get back together. Time is a healer. You have to stay busy on other tasks so your not thinking about that person.
