Coping with breakup

Sorry for long post Ill keep it brief as I can.

About a week ago my long term and living together partner broke up on mutual terms. we both agreed we were unhappy and was going no where, and we had problems. We left on a break but I have since felt we are just to far gone to repair. He still wants to fight for us but deep inside I know I am doing the right thing for both of us.

However the past week hes been sending texts which hint at it being all my fault, and how bad hes feeling. I understand he is most likely angry and lashing out. In short he is not coping very well, I dont think hes texting me to guilt trip me, but unfortunetly, it does and it makes me feel worse, like it IS all my fault. Like I'm a horrible person because we drifted apart. I took responsibility for my part in it but it feels like he isnt.

I dont know how to cope with this guilty feeling. I understand why hes acting like this and why he is struggling and having a hard(er time than me.) But at the same time, I can't be responsible for him and and I cant be in a relationship i was unhappy in, wake up in 60 years and feel like I wasted my life.

In the end, I know I will be okay. Its just getting from today, to the day I wake up and think "I dont have to cope, I'm okay". However he is clearly not doing so well, and of course I want him to be alright and get through this too. But I dread my phone going off and getting a message or a text. Ive tried to comfort him and be nice but.. It's just getting harder each day.

Anyone with help, advice from own experiences or someone to just rant and talk to. Please get in touch :(
