Difficult breakup- need advice on how to get over this, if I even should
I told my long distance boyfriend around Christmas time that we should take a break because whenever he was home, all we did was hangout at his parents house and he slept or looked at his phone while we were together. When I suggested the break, all he said was “I don’t know. I’m not sure.” He didn’t argue it. He was struggling with his mental health but I wasn’t helping him by just sitting there doing nothing. He had no motivation to do anything but, he had energy to go hunting/fishing with his dad or be intimate with me and I would say no, especially since I told him I wasn’t comfortable doing that while at his parents house (which annoyed him). He said I left when he could have “used” me the most. I found out our break turned into a breakup by him changing his profile picture/relationship status without even communicating with me. But his mom texted me and tried to guilt me into staying. She said they all still loved me though, then she unfriended me on Facebook. He told me that if we ever got back together, I would have to “prove that I’m worth getting back into a relationship with.” Also, might I had, while we were trying to talk and work things out, not once did he say he loved me or cared for me or anything. While (at least twice) I said I loved, cared and hope he finds what he’s looking for. I have such guilt over this and I can’t stop thinking about him and having regrets that I made the wrong decision.
It’s probably best that you let him go. You made the right decision by the sounds of it. Don’t overthink it too much, you’ll get through this. I just recently had a breakup and I’m learning how to heal. Start your healing process and slowly focus on yourself and eventually you’ll realize the breakup was for the best. What helps me is talking to friends and writing down my thoughts, it’s normal to feel sad and lonely and I’m still getting used to that. One day he’ll be a distant memory and you’ll be glad you chose to move forward. Everyday is a new day and it will take time to feel better. There will be someone else out there for you so don’t worry.
