Divorce is a financial nightmare!?!?!?!

My ex and I have been toying with some ways we can make the financial settlement for our divorce. Wow. We're each going to be in such a worse financial position than during our years together. I'm definitely not driven by money but ... wow. It's like we're stepping backwards 15 years. I know I can recover better than she can (I've been the main breadwinner) but, nevertheless, this discovery has been a huge shock for me.

A friend who divorced a year ago calls it "the gift that keeps on taking". How has everyone else handled their financial settlement?

@TheSleech I've personally never experienced a divorce but I just want to give my support to you. It sounds like a rough road, stay strong! heart

@KindListening Thanks. I really appreciate it. I think, realistically, I'm having an easier time of it than most, ie: there's been no betrayal, no one has run off with the crown jewels or another person, but it's still tough. I'm learning the truth of the saying about teaching old dogs new tricks.

I watched this happen to my mum when she divorced my father. If you need an ear, want to vent, cry, whatever; I'm here and I understand your frustration and anger.
